Day Six

Stampers, do you ever find yourself with a stash of cards that is greater than your needs? Or have you thought to make a gift of handmade cards but lack a perfect way to package them?

Today's post solves your problems! Stampin' Up! is offering acetate boxes that are awesome for decorating, they are the perfect size to hold 5+ cards and envelopes and they are only in the Holiday Catalog, so if you love them as much as I do, click on the picture below and throw them in your cart! Once you own them you will also see that these are great for gifting other things as well, chocolates, cookies, gift cards -- let your imagination go!

One of the coolest features of these boxes is that they are just the right size to run through the BigShot to emboss the acetate. Look closely at my first photo and notice the snowflake that I embossed into the box. It is simple AND stunning.

Then I made a beautiful tag and attached it with a clip, so it can be removed and used on a package. So it adds another gift to the whole deal!

And this is one of those over-the-top projects, with heat embossing, glimmer paper, an ornament embellishment and ribbon. Something you might only make for special gifts. BUT if you make a production line of it, and repeat each step 5 or 6 times, while you have all the supplies out, then the ONE you need now turns into 5 more you can use later.  I love to have a stash so I can grab-n-go when I need a hostess gift or a last-minute gift.

Scroll down for the products used and a set of instructions to help you make your own.

This is the sixth project in my "12 Days of Christmas Projects" and this is one of my contributions. I will be back Friday, or thereabouts, with a project from one of my demonstrator friends. We are headed to Salt Lake City on Wednesday for the Stampin' Up! OnStage event, so my time will be occupied and I'll be away from my computer, so who knows when I will be able to post. But the goal is Friday and Sunday.

Enjoy!
Happy Stamping,
Dee Tollaksen

Instructions:

  1. Emboss your acetate box: both ends of the box are the same, so look at one end and notice that there is a closure flap on one side and nothing on the other. Slide your box into the embossing folder over the side of the box with nothing (no closure flap). Your folder should be half inside the box and half outside. With the box flat (not opened up to assemble) it will fit through your BigShot. Remember to always send your embossing folder through "fold first" and emboss your box.
  2. Use your stamp set and circle framelits to create the scalloped circle and a smaller sentiment circle. The size and sentiment can be adjusted to your needs. Add an enamel embellishment to the sentiment.
  3. Thread ribbon through an ornament and tie a bow. Add another loop of ribbon and attach to the back of your die-cut circles. Layer your circles onto a metallic doily. Layer a flagged piece of gold glimmer paper to the back of the circles. Feel free to use dimensionals between layers as you desire.
  4. Create a tag using the scallop-top tag punch. Attach your embellished circles to the tag.
  5. Assemble your box, folding on all the score lines and tucking the bottom of the box closed. Use a clip to attach the entire tag to the embossed/front of your box. Fill box with your choice of gift and carefully close the box without disturbing your clip.
